New Hours

"Sisters"

Life is always changing and we must make our adjustments with it. For awhile here I will be closed in the morning at the Blue Awning .  But not to worry!  The doors will be open at 12 noon until 530pm Monday – Friday and our hours will stay the same on Saturday 9am – 12 noon.

We are continuing our search for artist and unique crafters for the shop and if you have not been in lately you are missing some new ones. We keep moving forward and are working on our Thursday night workshop programs.

This is my sister Marilyn!                        Monday – Friday 12 noon to 530pm   Saturday 9am – noon

C.C.’s Basket’s

People that make baskets continually amaze me. C.C. came in and started displaying her baskets and telling me what she had for sale. There is a German weave, a basket in a basket, a twill cathead, a gourd with a basket weave. She has a basket with beads or feathers or twine or colorful or plain. You can put a bottle of wine in a basket, paper plates, note cards or use it as a purse.

If you have an item we have a basket here at the Blue Awning that you can put it into or you can just buy a basket and just look at them as art.

I hear the train a coming…….

There is nothing like having a train run the tracks and around the tree during the holiday season. This O27 is now on display in the front window of the Blue Awning and what fun I get to have than to run it. Showing  it to some young and adult children too.  Glenn Bugni is our resident train expert as some of you may have suspected.  He is the conductor that can refurbish them to a condition that looks like new again.

The milk car in the window shoots out  milk cans on to a platform while on the opposite side from another car you can dump off a load of logs. These are just a few things that can be collected with your very own train set.

Do you hear the train coming?                        cho cho!

Lance’s Wine

Lance’s Wine of Antigo, Wisconsin has been working hard to bring you quality wine from not your average crop.  They, Lance and Wendy VanPrice will make wine out of pretty much anything. Sure they make Elderberry, Blackberry, Cherry, Wisconsin Grape, and Plum. But did you know she makes a great pomegranate, Pineapple, Mango Peach & Pumpkin Spice.  Those are just a few. Yes, the Merlot is good too.

We carry full and 1/2 size bottles. So, don’t be afraid to try something new!

Maybe, you would like some Green tomato?

“The Basket Ladies”

What a wonderful group of ladies!  I have mentioned that I want this to be a place where people can find happiness through art. Well, these ladies have found it in there group while weaving baskets. They encourage each other to be good in their craft. They try new things. There are willow baskets and pine needle baskets with beeswax on them… who ever thought of doing that… and all those little pine needles… the baskets are gorgeous!

They have found happiness and maybe someday they will demonstrate for us… I will keep you posted!

Watercolor Artist: Cindy Martin

It is nice to know people like Cindy Martin. She is this down to earth person that if you have never met her before you swear you have known her for years.

She is a Middle School Art teacher and loves her job but you look at her painting and wonder what she is doing here.  She has learned from the best and it shows in her paintings. They look like photographs. They are meticulous strokes of paint that guide your eyes across the canvas. You think you are actually sitting by the Hudson Bridge. For  Antigonians that is a famous bridge and Cindy won an award for her painting at the Walls of Wittenberg. I encourage you to stop down and admire her work.
