FYI

Just a quick note:  The barn board chair and bean pot have been sold!  Things are going well in April so far. Every one here is thinking spring even though Mother Nature hasn’t quit agreed. There is only two spot left in the May 4th oil painting class. So, if that is something you would like to try stop in and let us know. We can get you all the details and sign you up!

Langlade Area Arts is still working hard on getting an Art Center here in Antigo.  Watch for them at Music in the Park on July 1 as they will be selling pies! YUMMMMMMMM

Barn Board Art

Barn board art is all over HGTV and it’s created here to by our artists too! This stool is great for an accent piece or “the naughty chair”. LOL  But if you are looking for something else then take a look at the shelf, benches and small stools that are available.

Pysanky Eggs

Pysanky egg This is just a sample of a new artist we have doing a Ukranian art form called Pysanky. She has many of them on display for sale. See more on our Facebook page and in the shop.  Our Langlade County artists are still amazing me with their talents.

Holiday Season

We have been quit busy here at The Blue Awning. We successfully made it through carving classes with no blood and we held our first Bob Ross oil painting class. Paint with Vicki was so much fun that we are doing it again on Feb. 9 & Mar. 30. You can go on-line and see Vicki at paintwithvicki.com to see what she is all about. I even took the class and all I have done is paint by number as a child. Stop in the shop and you can see my painting and get all the details about the classes. Give the gift of a painting class this year or a carving class you would be amazed at how relaxing it really can be once you try.

Langlade Area Arts is a group that is working toward  the renovating of a building in downtown  Antigo, WI. This would house a 200 plus seat theater, a gallery space, and 2 education studios. You might say the group is the “brick & mortar” for the arts groups that we have here in Langlade County.  The space they are looking at is presently called the Professional Building but use to be called the Home Theater. It has history. They found the 80-year-old plans and are working from them and upgrading the lighting, sound, plumbing … those things.  They have really done a lot of mature steps in this project to make sure that this becomes a reality.

December 7 is the next big fund-raiser for the group. The Snow Ball will be held at the Edison Club. Signature cocktails will be brought out again like the “Jack Frost” & Peppermint Twist” among others. Music and entertainment for your dancing pleasures. Tickets will be sold in advance here at the Blue Awning for $35 or 2 for $60.  I will keep you posted or watch the Antigo Daily Journal.

Ribbon Cutting for The Blue Awning

We hosted a Ribbon Cutting ceremony to say to everyone that we are here. Our artists are well on their way to making a name for themselves if they have not already.  We have also the great pleasure to welcome our senior artist/crafters from “Ye Olde Craft Shoppe” as they are now located under the awning. Thank You to the Antigo/Langlade County Chamber and it’s ambassadors. Everyone enjoyed refreshments and cookies from Antigo Bakery with our logo on them… the yellow bird!

New Hours

"Sisters"

Life is always changing and we must make our adjustments with it. For awhile here I will be closed in the morning at the Blue Awning .  But not to worry!  The doors will be open at 12 noon until 530pm Monday – Friday and our hours will stay the same on Saturday 9am – 12 noon.

We are continuing our search for artist and unique crafters for the shop and if you have not been in lately you are missing some new ones. We keep moving forward and are working on our Thursday night workshop programs.

This is my sister Marilyn!                        Monday – Friday 12 noon to 530pm   Saturday 9am – noon
